A Yazidi teenager who was allegedly held as a sex slave by Isis, has revealed that she was kidnapped and trafficked by Siddhartha Dhar, the British jihadist dubbed the ‘new Jihadi John’.
Nihad Barakat was 16-years-old when she and 27 members of her family were kidnapped by Isis fighters after the fall of Sinjar in Iraq in 2014. In an exclusive interview with British Muslim TV, she recounts how she was beaten, raped and forced to marry a Islamic State (ISIS) militant.
Barakat managed to successfully escape the forced marriage, only to be recaptured and abused again by ISIS (Daesh), during which time she fell pregnant. After giving birth, Barakat managed to escape again, this time successfully, with the help and support of Canadian charity Liberation of Christian and Yazidi Children of Iraq (Cyci).
In the interview, Bakarat reveals that Dhar, – also known as Abu Rumaysah – was the man who kidnapped her. Dhar himself is thought to have replaced Mohammed Emwazi, aka ‘Jihadi John’, as IS’s chief executioner in their propaganda videos.
The 32-year-old left his home in London to join ISIS in 2014 while out on bail. The former bouncy castle salesman, from Walthamstow, east London, had been arrested a number of times on suspicion of encouraging terrorism, but still managed to travel to Syria with his wife and four children.
