Help liberate the Christian and Yazidi captives of the Islamic State

I received this message from Alexia Maman, the Director of an important organization known as CYCI: The Liberation of Christian & Yazidi Children of Iraq. Please follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin, and support their worthy mission.

Since ISIS took over Mosul, Iraq, thousands of women and children have been brutally raped, abused, and sold as sex slaves. Because Sharia’h law forbids a Muslim man from engaging in intimate relations with a Muslim woman before marriage, Christian and Yazidi women and children have been used as commodities at the mercy of ISIS militants. Whilst they are in captivity, they are being malnourished and are living in extremely inhumane conditions, being forced to sleep in cages at night.

We started this organization and raise funds in order to negotiate the liberation of these women and children. In just two weeks we have raised over $200,000, however, we require more funds in order to complete our mission. There are about 2700 left to rescue and we will not leave any woman or child behind.

Rest assured that we do not negotiate with ISIS, nor do we fund ISIS. We have been working closely with Canon Andrew White, Vicar of Baghdad, who has fully endorsed and supported our mission, and who has now become a close friend. Furthermore, we have a Christian Iraqi soldier on the ground who has been honoured by General David Petraeus and has worked for the United States of America, Canada, and the United Kingdom. He is the adoptive son of Canon Andrew White and has been blessed by the Canadian Government to participate in this mission.

We are reaching out to you to join us in making a difference. Today, in 2015, there are around 2700 women and children in Mosul suffering from extreme abuse, both physically and sexually. This is not a campaign that will take time to develop, it is happening right now as you are reading this email. Up to date, we have successfully liberated 123 women and children. They have been sent to Canon Andrew White’s IDP’s camp in Kurdistan. Some more fortunate ones are reunited with their families, and others are provided with food, shelter and medical care. With your help, we can raise more funds and give these human beings a second chance to live a normal life.
