The Canadian fighter Steve Maman also learns about the fate of the trapped Jesidian and Christian children in Iraq and Syria. The business man himself is a child of a Jewish family and has been committed to volunteering within his community for years. The 42-year-old Maman, who was born in Morocco and emigrated early to Canada, founded the Liberation of Christian and Yazidi Children in Iraq (CYCI) Liberation of Christians and Jesuits. “As Jews, we know what it is like when the whole world is watching and doing nothing,” emphasizes the sixfold father of the family in conversation with “ÊzîdîPress”. “I am the child of a nation that became part of the most devastating genocide. And yes, the world did not come in time to help us. Too many Jews died, Because they responded too late. This is what prompted me to act without delay, “Maman continues.

Within several months, Maman can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations and invest a large sum himself. Maman is aimed at activists who have already coordinated liberation activities in Iraq and have an appropriate network. In his CYCI team, Jews, Christians, Jesids, Muslims and agnostics are involved. His “man for everything” is the priest Dr. Canon Andrew White, who heads an aid organization from Baghdad. “A great man. The best human being among men, “says Meman Pfarrer Dr. White. Canadian Defense Secretary Jason Kenny is also one of Maman’s supporters.

The CYCI team links to smugglers within the areas controlled by the IS, but especially to Mosul. All the saved Jesids are carefully documented and interviewed in a register to find locations for further prisoners. Activists confirm the actions of the CYCI, such as Dr. Amy Beam, who has been working for the Jesids since the beginning of the genocide and has been working with the CYCI team to establish contacts to families whose relatives are in IS captivity.
